Athletics defeat Blue Jays 6-5 on walk-off hit

The Oakland Athletics defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 6-5 on Monday in the first game of a three-game series at Sutter Health Park. Athletics center fielder Henry Bolte recorded a solo home run and three stolen bases to help build an early lead. Starting pitcher Jacob Lopez provided six innings of one-run ball before the Toronto offense rallied in the late innings. The Blue Jays tied the game in the top of the ninth when Andrés Giménez hit his ninth home run of the season. Jeff McNeil secured the win for Oakland in the bottom of the ninth inning with a walk-off infield RBI single. The teams continue their series following this opening matchup.
