Athlos honors stadium payment after cancelling October track event in New York

The women’s track league Athlos will pay a $75,000 deposit to the Randall’s Island Park Alliance following the cancellation of its scheduled October 2 event at Icahn Stadium. League founder Alexis Ohanian announced the decision to cancel the New York meet last week, citing athlete feedback regarding the event's position within the track calendar. Despite the cancellation, the organization is fulfilling its contractual obligations to the venue operator. Athlos previously held events at the site for two years but is shifting its focus to an upcoming September 18 competition in London. Ohanian indicated that the league maintains plans to return to New York in 2027.
