Atlanta Falcons projected to pursue quarterback C.J. Stroud next offseason

Summary

The Atlanta Falcons are preparing for the 2026 season with a new coaching staff, including head coach Kevin Stefanski. A quarterback competition is anticipated between Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa during training camp. However, speculation about the long-term solution raises the possibility that neither will suffice, prompting projections of a potential trade for C.J. Stroud of the Houston Texans. Following a challenging 2025 season, Stroud's status could be uncertain, especially with the Texans needing to decide on his contract extension by next offseason. If they do not proceed with an extension, he may become available for the Falcons at a lower cost.
