On August 2, 1997, Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium was imploded to make way for Turner Field. Opened in 1965, the stadium was home to the Braves and Falcons and hosted many historical events. Among these was Hank Aaron's record-breaking 715th home run in 1974. After the Braves' final game in 1996, plans were initiated to transform the stadium's site into parking for the new venue. Today, Center Parc Stadium occupies the location, where remnants of the original outfield wall remain.
