Atlanta United sign midfielder Giuliano Galoppo on loan from River Plate

Atlanta United acquired midfielder Giuliano Galoppo on a loan deal from River Plate on Wednesday. The 27-year-old Argentine will remain with the MLS club through June 30, 2027, with the agreement including a purchase option. Chief soccer officer and sporting director Chris Henderson described the addition as a move to increase midfield competition and offensive depth for the remainder of the season. Galoppo recorded eight goals and one assist in 48 appearances for River Plate over the last two years. He previously played for CA Banfield and São Paulo, accumulating 39 goals across nearly 200 professional appearances. Atlanta currently holds 13th place in the Eastern Conference standings, sitting four points outside of the playoff positions.
