Atlantic and Pine Ridge football return to FHSAA as independents

Atlantic and Pine Ridge have confirmed their return to the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) as independent, non-playoff members. Both football programs left the Sunshine State Athletic Association (SSAA) after playing only one season, facing potential penalties and alignment issues with Volusia County. Their decision followed communications with the FHSAA ahead of the June 1 registration deadline. Atlantic and Pine Ridge will keep their current schedules, with a notable adjustment to the Week 1 matchup, and will reassess their status in March 2027.
