Atlético Madrid competes with Juventus to sign Lyon defender Nicolás Tagliafico

Atlético Madrid is attempting to sign Olympique Lyonnais full-back Nicolás Tagliafico. The 34-year-old Argentine previously agreed to join Juventus, pending the completion of Juan Cabal’s move to Atalanta, but has since given approval for a transfer to the Spanish club. Lyon holds a contract with the defender until June 2027 and must now negotiate with interested parties to reach a final agreement. Tagliafico has recorded 134 appearances for the French side over the last four years, including 30 matches during the 2025-26 season. An 83-cap international, he was part of the Argentina squad that won the 2022 World Cup and represented his country at this summer’s tournament. The clubs are currently waiting to finalize transfer terms to secure the veteran defender’s departure from the Rhône region.
