Atletico Madrid sets August 10 deadline for Alvarez amid Barcelona interest

Summary

Atletico Madrid has instructed Julian Alvarez to report for pre-season training on August 10. This comes as Barcelona aims to finalize a transfer for the Argentine forward following their rejected bid. Alvarez's desire to leave Atletico emerged during the recent World Cup, where he represented Argentina. Atletico has consistently stated that Alvarez is not for sale this summer, while Barcelona president Joan Laporta argues against retaining unhappy players. If an agreement is not reached in the coming week, Barcelona may seek alternative targets.
