Austin Barber starts at right guard for Cleveland Browns against Jacksonville

The Cleveland Browns confirmed on Friday that rookie offensive lineman Austin Barber will start at right guard in the team's season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday. The assignment comes following an injury to veteran Teven Jenkins, who was initially slated to fill the position. Barber, selected 86th overall in the draft, transitions to the interior of the line after playing primarily at tackle during his career at Florida. He recorded 2,087 snaps at left tackle and 490 snaps at right tackle throughout his collegiate tenure. The coaching staff expects the rookie to lean on his experience as he adapts to the new role against Jacksonville. The team currently looks to Barber’s physical play style in the run game to bolster the offensive line performance in his first professional start.
