Austin Hill has signed a contract to race full-time in the Cup Series for Richard Childress Racing during the 2027 season. Hill will continue driving the No. 33 Chevrolet, a seat he occupied following the death of Kyle Busch in May. While acknowledging past on-track incidents, including a suspension for a collision with Aric Almirola at Indianapolis, Hill stated his intention to improve his relationship with the NASCAR fanbase. He currently competes full-time in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, where he holds two wins in 2026 and prepares to enter the Chase from the fifth position. Hill expressed a desire for observers to separate his aggressive on-track persona from his life as a family man. He likened his situation to that of Joey Logano, who continues to face criticism for incidents earlier in his career.
