Austin Theory attacks Otis, leaves him out indefinitely

Despite the pleas of many pundits and fans, WWE persists with The Vision, the heel group founded by Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman after WrestleMania 41. The Vision was viewed as a vehicle to cement Bron Breakker as a main eventer, likely via an eventual feud with Rollins. But Rollins’ real and worked injuries got in the way of that, and their feud was blown off this summer with a Rollins win that set off concern for Bron’s future. Now with a one-armed Logan Paul but without Heyman (at least for as long as Brock Lesnar is around), the group added Maxxine Dupri as Austin Theory’s lady friend. While we all anxiously await the return of Big Bad Bronson Reed for his injury (the term “snakebit” undersells The Vision’s luck, and may have credited karma after Rollins’ injury ruse, but that’s a whole ‘nother subject), the group is focused on Dupri’s old pals in Alpha Academy. Last night that meant Theory and Breakker taking on the Academy’s Otis and Akira Tozawa. They made an example of the lovable losers, letting them know Maxxine was riding with The Vision now, and hopefully getting the audience to get serious about hating them again… It wasn’t just an extending on-screen ass-kicking of a popular midcard babyface, either. Theory got to ham it up while gloating about it in an interview later, which is when Byron Saxton informed us that Otis is “out indefinitely”.
