Austin Wells hits two pinch-hit home runs in one inning for Yankees

New York Yankees catcher Austin Wells became the first player in MLB history to hit two home runs in a single inning as a pinch hitter during Sunday's game against the Boston Red Sox. The Yankees secured a 16-1 win over the Boston Red Sox, clinching the season series tiebreaker between the two clubs. Wells contributed to an eight-run rally in the bottom of the eighth inning. Despite recent criticism regarding his offensive production, Wells has posted a.269 batting average with nine RBIs over his last ten appearances. He continues to serve as the team’s primary defensive catcher due to his pitch-framing ability. The organization expects Wells to start behind the plate during the upcoming playoffs.
