The Australian Open has announced a cap on ground pass allocations for 2027 following unprecedented attendance at this year's event, which drew nearly 1.37 million fans. This measure comes in response to overcrowding issues experienced during the recent tournament, where unregulated ground pass sales led to long lines and inadequate viewing spaces. Tennis Australia's chief commercial officer, Cedric Cornelis, stated that the decision aims to enhance the fan experience. The remaining three Grand Slams may consider similar measures as they also face challenges balancing ticket sales with infrastructure limitations. The 2027 Australian Open is set to begin on January 17.
