Authorities arrest suspect in burglary of Dave Marcis home in North Carolina

The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office confirmed an arrest on September 4 related to a burglary at the Arden, North Carolina, home of former NASCAR driver Dave Marcis. The break-in occurred while Marcis was out of town, resulting in the theft of personal items including Rolex watches and a rifle gifted by Dale Earnhardt. Investigators identified a suspect after a witness recognized stolen items for sale at Smiley's Flea Market in Fletcher and contacted Marcis' daughter, Shawn Beam, via Facebook. While authorities have not publicly identified the suspect or confirmed specific charges beyond felony breaking and entering, the investigation remains open. The family is currently working to recover the remaining missing memorabilia, much of which represents significant historical items from Marcis’ 883-start Cup Series career. Prosecutors are expected to determine if additional charges for possession of stolen goods are applicable as the investigation continues.
