Baker Mayfield confident Buccaneers will surprise critics in 2026

Summary

Baker Mayfield stated on August 18 that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are poised to exceed expectations despite widespread doubt. Entering the 2026 season, the team is dealing with the fallout from a poor 2025 finish, roster changes, and Mayfield’s own contract situation. With significant players like Lavonte David and Mike Evans gone, skepticism surrounds their prospects in a weak division. Mayfield believes this adversity could motivate the team to perform at a high level.
