Baker Mayfield could become Steelers' starting quarterback in 2027

Summary

With the 2026 NFL season about to begin, speculation is growing regarding Baker Mayfield's potential role with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2027. Mayfield, currently with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is in the final year of his contract, and discussions about an extension have stalled. The Steelers are looking for a long-term quarterback solution with uncertainty surrounding their current roster. Mayfield's experience and recent performance position him as a strong candidate for Pittsburgh, a team that may seek a veteran presence as they navigate the end of Aaron Rodgers' tenure in the league and the next phase of their franchise. Should both parties show mutual interest, it could reshape the Steelers’ quarterback situation going forward.
