Bam' Rodriguez captures WBA bantamweight title in Glendale

On June 13, Jesse 'Bam' Rodriguez secured the WBA world bantamweight title by defeating Antonio Vargas via sixth-round knockout in Glendale, Arizona. Rodriguez knocked Vargas down in the fifth round and finished the bout with a powerful combination. This victory marks Rodriguez's fourth career win in front of a supportive Phoenix audience. Earlier in the Matchroom Boxing card, Jordan Martinez lost to Arturo Cardenas by decision in a closely contested match. The Phoenix Mercury fell to the Dallas Wings, 85-70, on June 11, while Phoenix Rising FC lost 2-0 to Louisville City FC on June 10.
