Barcelona equals La Liga wins record with ninth straight victory

Barcelona continued their strong start to the 2026/27 La Liga season, achieving a ninth consecutive win after a 5-2 victory over Real Betis on October 17. This run ties the record for the most wins at the beginning of a La Liga season, a mark previously set by Real Madrid in 1968/69. Barcelona's performance has them leading the league standings with a perfect 27 points after nine matches, on pace to potentially set a new goal-scoring record with 39 goals so far, averaging 4.3 goals per game. The team's next match against Real Madrid presents an opportunity to set a new record for consecutive wins to start a season.
