Barcelona extends Andreas Christensen’s contract amid injury recovery

Summary

Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen signed a new two-year contract on July 31, 2026, as a reward for his commitment to the club. Despite injuries limiting his starting opportunities, Christensen's professionalism and willingness to assist the club during registration challenges were cited as factors behind the renewal. His previous contract expired at the end of June, but the club chose to retain him rather than let him leave as a free agent. Manager Hansi Flick continues to value Christensen for his tactical capabilities and versatility.
