Barcelona fails to acquire Andres Vallecillo from Racing Santander

FC Barcelona attempted to sign 20-year-old midfielder Andres Vallecillo from Racing Santander on August 30. The La Liga champions proposed a fee of approximately €300,000 to bolster their reserve side, Barça Atletic, but Racing Santander rejected the offer. The club insisted that any transfer would require the full payment of the player's release clause. Vallecillo has spent the current pre-season training with the first team under manager Jose Alberto and remains a part of the squad's future plans. Racing Santander intends to offer the youngster a contract extension on his current deal, which runs until June 2027. Following the failed negotiations, Barcelona successfully signed Stuttgart midfielder Mirza Catovic. This marked the second unsuccessful approach by the Catalan club for a Racing Santander player this summer, as a previous move for Jorge Salinas also ended without an agreement.
