Barcelona registers Brian Farinas for first-team squad with number 4 shirt

Barcelona officially registered 20-year-old midfielder Brian Farinas as a first-team player for the 2026/27 season on Monday. The club assigned the number 4 jersey to Farinas, a kit number that became available following Ronald Araujo’s loan move to Liverpool. The registration follows a period of uncertainty regarding the player's status, as he had been close to a move to Girona earlier in the transfer window. Manager Hansi Flick intervened in the transfer process after observing Farinas during training sessions and noting his potential contribution to the senior squad. Sporting director Deco confirmed the club’s satisfaction with the midfielder's development during discussions with his agent. While now part of the senior roster, Farinas faces significant competition for playing time and understands his opportunities may remain limited as the season progresses.
