Barcelona targets Julian Alvarez for future transfer after summer recruitment strategy

Barcelona remains interested in acquiring striker Julian Alvarez despite failing to secure the player from Atletico Madrid during the recent transfer window. The club previously prioritized a move for the Argentine international but ultimately pivoted to sign Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal to fill its immediate attacking needs. According to reports, Barcelona intentionally preserved funds intended for a marquee forward, indicating that the team views Julian Alvarez as a primary long-term objective. Officials consider the striker better suited for their project than other available options currently on the market. The club plans to revisit a potential transfer in January or during the window in June 2027. While Atletico Madrid displayed resistance to negotiations throughout the summer, Barcelona maintains a firm interest in securing his services for a long-term development plan.
