Basketball star Michael Osei-Bonsu joins Missouri State football team

Missouri State basketball standout Michael Osei-Bonsu is transitioning to collegiate football for his fifth season. The 6-foot-4, 280-pound athlete is training as a tight end and defensive lineman after concluding a successful basketball career with the Bears. Despite never playing football in high school due to family concerns, Osei-Bonsu is learning team schemes and terminology ahead of the upcoming schedule. Coaching staff members, including Al Davis, are working to develop his raw physical attributes on the gridiron. While Osei-Bonsu has received mentorship from basketball coach Cuonzo Martin during this transition, the player remains focused on acclimating to the technical language of a new sport. He is expected to provide versatility, potentially seeing snaps at right tackle during field goal attempts throughout the early portion of the season.
