Basketball Without Borders updates development program after 25 years of operations

The NBA and FIBA are shifting the structure of the Basketball Without Borders program to mark its 25th anniversary. The organization is replacing four regional camps with two annual centralized events known as Next Up camps for the top international male and female prospects. The inaugural men's camp recently concluded at the Basketbol Gelişim Merkezi in Istanbul, featuring players from 44 countries and territories. NBA players Jalen Suggs and Khris Middleton served as coaches during the event, which included athletic testing, skill development, and 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 games. Serbian forward Matija Lukic earned camp MVP honors, while Portuguese forward Miguel Sousa was recognized as the defensive MVP. The new format aims to gather the highest-ranked talent in one location to provide increased visibility for scouts and elite competition for the prospects.
