Bastien Tronchon of Groupama FDJ-United secured his first WorldTour victory during stage 10 of the Vuelta a Espana on September 1. After a 184.7km route from Alcaraz to Elche de la Sierra, the Frenchman emerged from a disorganized bunch sprint to cross the line first. The finish followed a failed late-race attack by Astana’s Yevgeni Fedorov and Pinarello-Q36.5’s Xabier Azparren, who were reeled in within the final kilometer. Points leader Wout van Aert, who was positioned for the sprint by Visma-Lease a Bike, finished in fourth place. Magnus Cort and Thibau Nys rounded out the top three. The overall general classification remains unchanged, with Enric Mas maintaining a 1’18” lead over Primoz Roglic. The race continues Wednesday with a 151.3km stage from Cartagena to Lorca.
