Battle Creek Central football players wear commemorative jerseys for 9/11 anniversary

Battle Creek Central will wear custom jerseys for the varsity football game at Mattawan this Friday. The matchup falls on the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks. Head coach Lorin Granger stated the initiative serves to honor first responders, armed forces, and those who lost their lives. The jerseys feature stars and stripes, along with commemorative patches and references to the Battle Creek Police Department and Battle Creek Fire Department. Senior player Karon Gupton noted the team views the gesture as an opportunity to memorialize the event for a generation of players born after 2001. Battle Creek Central has extended an invitation to local first responders to join the team for the road game.
