Baumann discusses World Cup snub with Nagelsmann after tournament

Summary

Oliver Baumann spoke with former Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann about his exclusion from the World Cup squad. Baumann, who plays for TSG Hoffenheim, described the hour-long conversation as neutral, stating, 'He was sorry about how everything turned out in the end.' This follows Nagelsmann's decision to favor Manuel Neuer as the starting goalkeeper just weeks before the tournament. Germany faced an early exit in the Round of 32 against Paraguay, with Neuer returning from retirement to play. Baumann expressed his disappointment but noted he provided energy to the team from the substitutes bench.
