Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer faced vocal criticism from Schalke supporters during a Bundesliga match at the Veltins-Arena on September 5, 2026. The match ended in a 0-0 draw after Bayern Munich failed to convert scoring opportunities. Following the fixture, Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen labeled the sustained heckling toward the former Schalke player as unnecessary. Dreesen defended Neuer’s 2011 career move, noting that the goalkeeper would not have achieved the same level of success had he remained at his former club. Neuer played for Schalke before his transfer to Bayern Munich fifteen years ago.
