Baylor Bears face pressure as Dave Aranda's job hangs in balance

Baylor head coach Dave Aranda is under significant pressure ahead of the 2026 season, following a disappointing 5-7 record last year. With a tenured record of 36-37 overall and 24-30 in Big 12 play, Aranda's future may hinge on the performance of new transfer quarterback DJ Lagway and a revamped offensive line. The Bears are replacing four of five starters on the line in hopes of better protecting Lagway and supporting junior running back Dawson Pendergrass. In addition, Aranda has shifted defensive responsibilities to Joe Klanderman to foster a new team dynamic and address last season's struggles in close games. Baylor will test its adjustments against BYU on November 14.
