BCCI defines Ombudsman's jurisdiction over state-level matters

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will implement a new policy that clarifies the Ombudsman's jurisdiction, preventing it from handling complaints related to local or state-level issues. This decision follows objections from various state cricket associations during the BCCI's Annual General Meeting in Mumbai last week. Representatives from associations including Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Baroda, Punjab, and Odisha argued that such complaints unnecessarily increase legal costs and suggested that local grievance mechanisms should be exhausted first. The newly framed policy will provide the Ombudsman with clearer terms of reference concerning state association complaints.
