Bear Bachmeier, the quarterback for the BYU Cougars, wears the No. 47 jersey, a number he has maintained since his youth football days despite changing positions. Bachmeier stated that he chose this number when he played running back and has kept it as he transitioned to quarterback. NFL rules, however, would require him to change his number when eligible to play in the league since quarterbacks must wear numbers between 0 and 19. Bachmeier is not eligible for the NFL draft until 2028, possibly delaying a shift to a new jersey number until after graduation in 2029.
