Bears engage in trade talks for defensive tackle Gervon Dexter

Summary

The Chicago Bears are in discussions to potentially trade defensive tackle Gervon Dexter, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Dexter, 24, is entering the final year of his rookie contract after a 2025 season in which he recorded 44 tackles and 6.0 sacks. The Bears could free up over $1.6 million in cap space through a trade. With a need for draft capital and uncertainty about extending Dexter, a deal could serve long-term interests for the franchise. However, trading Dexter may weaken the Bears' defensive line heading into the 2026-27 season, as they have not significantly addressed their front line issues this offseason.
