Bears honor Mike Ditka with No. 89 helmet decal in Week 5 tribute

The Chicago Bears will honor legendary coach Mike Ditka by featuring a No. 89 helmet decal during Week 5. Ditka, who died on October 7, led the team to a Super Bowl victory and spent six seasons as a player before coaching the Bears for 11 years. The decal placement will be on the back of the team’s helmet, just below the American flag. Team chairman George McCaskey confirmed that number 89 will be the last number retired by the Bears. Fans and players alike continue to pay tribute to Ditka’s legacy ahead of the upcoming game.
