Bears receiver Zavion Thomas switches to jersey number 13

Chicago Bears rookie receiver Zavion Thomas changed his jersey number from 81 to 13 ahead of the regular season. The change became possible following roster cuts finalized over the weekend. Thomas now occupies the number previously held by veteran wide receiver Maurice Alexander, who was released by the team. This marks the second consecutive season a drafted Bears receiver has transitioned from a number in the 80s to a number in the teens following the preseason, as Luther Burden previously moved from 87 to 10. Thomas remains on the roster as the team enters the regular schedule.
