Bears report injuries to Xavier Woods, Montez Sweat, and others

The Chicago Bears experienced several injuries during their preseason game against the Cleveland Browns on August 15, 2026. Safety Xavier Woods sustained a groin injury and did not return. Linebackers Nephi Sewell and Ruben Hyppolite II also left the game with a concussion and shoulder injury, respectively. Coach Ben Johnson noted that defensive end Montez Sweat and left tackle Braxton Jones are expected back next week, while the status of nickelback Kyler Gordon remains uncertain. Rookie linebacker Keyshaun Elliott might return to practice soon after being on the PUP list.
