Bears sign Anthony Johnson Jr. to practice squad after waiving Marlen Sewell

The Chicago Bears signed defensive back Anthony Johnson Jr. to the team's practice squad on September 10. The move comes one day after the club waived defensive back Beanie Bishop Jr. with an injury settlement. The team also released safety Marlen Sewell with an injury settlement to clear a roster spot for Johnson. Johnson, a former Green Bay Packers draft pick, previously spent the summer with the Bears during training camp after signing with the team in May. He recorded seven tackles over three preseason games before being cut during initial roster moves. Chicago prepares for its season opener against the Minnesota Vikings on September 13. The addition of Johnson provides depth to the Bears' defensive back group on the 16-man practice squad.
