Becky Carlson joins University of Maine at Fort Kent as athletic director

The University of Maine at Fort Kent hired Becky Carlson as its new athletic director in August. Carlson previously spent 15 years as the head coach of the Quinnipiac University women's rugby team, which she helped establish in 2011. During her tenure at Quinnipiac, she secured three national championships and coached 32 All-Americans before the school downgraded the rugby program to club status earlier this year. Following the program's elimination as a varsity sport, former players filed a lawsuit against the university alleging the decision was retaliatory regarding Title IX concerns. A federal judge denied the players' request to reinstate the program as a varsity sport in June. Carlson now oversees the athletic department at the University of Maine at Fort Kent, which competes in the USCAA and supports nine varsity sports.
