Belfast unveils mural honoring Lewis Crocker and George Best

A new mural featuring former IBF World Welterweight Champion Lewis Crocker was unveiled on Blythe Street in Sandy Row, south Belfast, on Thursday evening. The artwork replaces the previous standalone tribute to George Best, incorporating both sporting figures on the same wall. The project was organized by DUP Councillor Tracy Kelly, who noted that the addition of Crocker complements existing local tributes, such as the nearby mural of Alex Higgins. Local residents and business owners attended the ceremony to mark the dedication to the boxer. The decision to retain the image of George Best alongside the new portrait of Crocker was intended to honor the legacy of the footballer while recognizing the accomplishments of the local fighter. The community has responded positively to the updated installation.
