Belgium leads U.S. 4-1 in World Cup Round of 16 match

Belgium took a commanding 4-1 lead over the U.S. in their Round of 16 match at the World Cup on July 6. Charles De Ketelaere opened the scoring for Belgium, and despite a brief equalizer from Malik Tillman, De Ketelaere regained the lead before a third goal was added following a mistake by U.S. goalkeeper Matt Freese. Romelu Lukaku capped the victory with a goal in stoppage time. This match follows President Trump’s intervention in suspending the one-game ban for U.S. player Folarin Balogun, which sparked discussion about its impact on the game. The Royal Belgian Football Association has voiced its concerns over FIFA’s handling of the ban and plans further action regarding Balogun's eligibility.
