Ben Shelton plays Tallon Griekspoor in the US Open first round

Ben Shelton begins his 2026 US Open campaign on Monday, Aug. 31, with a first-round match against Tallon Griekspoor. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at Arthur Ashe Stadium and marks the first evening session contest on the court. Shelton enters the final major of the year following a victory at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Montreal and an early exit in Cincinnati. His opponent, Griekspoor, is the No. 56 player in the ATP rankings and reached the Round of 16 in Montreal earlier this month. The two players have never faced each other in professional competition. A win for Shelton would set up a second-round match against either Damir Dzuhar or Hubert Hurkacz on Wednesday or Thursday.
