Benton Bucks runners assist competitor after collapse during race

Ruth Boomershine and Shalom Boomershine assisted a Concord runner during a cross country meet at Ox Bow Park on Tuesday, Aug. 25. Ruth Boomershine noticed Kylee Anglemyer collapse near the 2.5-mile mark of the 3.1-mile race and stayed with her while waiting for medical assistance. Shalom Boomershine arrived shortly after, running ahead to alert others and secure further help for the athlete. Both siblings resumed their race after help arrived, placing 18th and 25th. Anglemyer, who cited potential nutritional issues for her collapse, returned to competition on Saturday, Aug. 30, at the NorthWood Invitational. The runner and her team are scheduled to host the Minutemen Classic at Ox Bow Park on Sept. 12.
