What they're saying
"

During a chat with The Sal Licata Show, Big Cass was asked about his first run through WWE as one of the hottest babyface acts in the company alongside Enzo Amore in a hugely popular tag team and what effect that has had on his return to the company. He made it clear he believes coming back alone as a heel has made things “a lot harder.” After all, he was massively popular as a heater for Amore. And, in fact, part of the problem was the fact that when news broke that Cass was returning to WWE he was heavily linked to Enzo and had everyone thinking they would be working together again: “But yes, it makes it way more difficult than having a clean slate. Especially because when news came out of me signing with WWE, it immediately got linked to him. ‘They’re coming back together. They’re going to be running it back together.’ A lot of podcasts ran with that story, and people believed it. So then I come back on my own, and some people are like, ‘Wait, what?’ So it kind of made it a little difficult but I think so far I’ve done a pretty damn good job in the situation I’m in, getting booed out of buildings, which is really the goal.” The fact that Cass is simply a big monster heel and been booked as such has disappointed quite a few folks. Whether or not that’s partially due to an expectation he had nothing to do with I’ll leave up to you. Now, though, Cass is back working alongside another wrestler — only this time it’s Ethan Page. Considering where he was before and where he could be again, I wonder if that’s the right call. He’s got all the tools. Even in the linked interview, he’s well spoken and absolutely feels like a guy who can represent the company at a higher level. If not Enzo, why not give him more of a push as a singles star?
