Bills release linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles with an injury settlement

The Buffalo Bills released six-year veteran linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles on Friday with an injury settlement. The team originally signed Flannigan-Fowles in May to provide depth to the linebacker corps and contribute on special teams. He had been placed on injured reserve in early August, which initially rendered him ineligible to return to the active roster for the remainder of the season. The injury settlement allows the veteran the opportunity to potentially return to the team later this year. To manage the roster during his absence, Buffalo previously signed linebacker Otis Reese IV, though the team ultimately added veteran Shaq Thompson to the practice squad for the upcoming season. Flannigan-Fowles previously played for the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers during his career.
