Blanco, McCullers progress in rehab efforts for Astros

Ronel Blanco and Lance McCullers Jr. made strides toward returning to the Astros' roster on Friday. Blanco pitched three scoreless innings in a rehab start for the Florida Complex League, striking out five batters while allowing one hit and one walk. McCullers participated in a live batting practice session, throwing 25 pitches and reporting good control, targeting low-90s velocity. Blanco could progress to a start with Double-A Corpus Christi depending on his recovery, while McCullers may throw another live BP or begin a rehab assignment soon. Cristian Javier is also nearing return with a scheduled start for Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday.
