Blaze Berlowitz named Vanderbilt football starting QB for 2026 opener

Summary

Vanderbilt football has officially named Blaze Berlowitz as the starting quarterback for the season opener against Austin Peay on September 5, 2026. Berlowitz, a senior, steps up after serving as a backup for three years, including to record-setting quarterback Diego Pavia. In his previous appearances, he completed 9 of 17 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown in 2025. Five-star freshman Jared Curtis is also expected to play in that game, marking his first career snaps. Berlowitz's familiarity with the team's complex offense under Tim Beck is seen as a key strength as he takes on a pivotal role for the Commodores.
