Bleacher Report lists two Duke basketball teams among greatest North American squads

Bleacher Report recently identified two Duke Blue Devils men’s basketball teams as part of its ranking of the 99 greatest North American sports teams in history. The 1991-92 Duke squad, led by AP Player of the Year Christian Laettner, appeared at number 42 on the list. That team finished with a 34-2 record and secured an NCAA title after a 104-103 victory against Kentucky. The 2000-01 Duke team, which featured Jay Williams and Shane Battier, earned the number 67 spot. That group compiled a 35-4 regular season record and defeated its final opponent 82-72 in the NCAA Tournament title game. The 1991-92 team ranked as the fourth-highest men’s college basketball team on the compilation, trailing entries from Kentucky and UCLA.
