Blue Jays add pitcher Beau Philip after Braves release

The Toronto Blue Jays have signed Beau Philip, a former Atlanta Braves infielder who recently transitioned to pitching. The move comes after injuries to several players on Toronto's roster, prompting the team to explore independent league talent. Philip, originally drafted as a shortstop, struggled offensively in the Braves organization but gained attention as a pitcher while playing for the Lake Country DockHounds. He registered a 3.34 ERA over two seasons in independent baseball, leading to this opportunity with the Blue Jays. The acquisition has generated interest among fans due to Philip's unique background.
