Blue Jays trade for David Cone from Mets, August 1992

On August 27, 1992, the Blue Jays acquired pitcher David Cone from the Mets, sending Jeff Kent and Ryan Thompson to New York. At the time, Toronto held a 72-55 record and traded for Cone in hopes of bolstering their playoff chances. Cone contributed to the team with a 4-3 record and a 2.55 ERA in eight games before the playoffs. He helped the Blue Jays in the postseason, including two starts in the World Series. This trade marked the first of two times Cone joined the Blue Jays; he would return to the club in 1995, though that season was less successful for the team.
