BMW secures pole position as Lucas Auer crashes during DTM Sachsenring qualifying

BMW claimed pole position during Saturday qualifying for the DTM event at the Sachsenring. The session was interrupted with two minutes and 40 seconds remaining when Mercedes-AMG title contender Lucas Auer spun off at Turn 8. Auer made heavy contact with the tyre barrier, striking it with the left front of his car. Officials stopped the session immediately following the incident to clear the track and attend to the vehicle. Auer emerged from the car uninjured despite the impact. Before the red flag, Landgraf Mercedes driver Tom Kalender and Seyffarth Audi guest starter Simon Connor were on track. Qualifying results remain subject to the completion of the session following the stoppage.
