Bob Chesney earns victory in his UCLA Bruins coaching debut

Summary

UCLA Bruins head coach Bob Chesney successfully started his tenure with a 45-24 victory over Cal. The Bruins secured the win on the road in a contest that remained tied until the fourth quarter. Chesney is following a career path similar to Curt Cignetti, leading to immediate speculation regarding the potential for a bowl game appearance in his first season. Despite entering the matchup as slight underdogs against a Power Four opponent, the Bruins pulled away late to finalize the result. The team now turns its attention to a game against San Diego State next week. Meanwhile, USC holds a 2-0 record following a 39-0 win over Fresno State.
